I went from working retail, where dress code is anything cute, to starting work at a large firm where dress code is business casual. what can i get away with?
safest way is to see what everybody else is wearing and base your outfits on theirs…you can even try to add a personal touch that will show off your individuality. hope that helps.
it depends on the skirt I think. A dress probably isn’t but a skirt could be. A floral blouse with a blazer could also be suitable. A good rule, though, would be to only have one prominently floral item at a time. Watch what other people are wearing.
Well, If you like to wear florals, You can wear a cute top under a nice fitted blazer that lays nice & smooth on the hip!!! If you want to look really profesional, You could wear a nice fitted blazer w/ a suit skirt or wide-legged trousers!!!! Hope that this helps!!!!! Good luck!!!
Floral prints should be fine although watch your skirt/dress lengths. Usually its preferred that skirts or dresses are at least knee length and some employers will not allow you to be sleeveless… so a sheath dress would need to be paired with a jacket or a sweater. It all depends on your company policy though and it should be fairly clear. Your company policy should be made available for you to review.
as long as you don’t shpw too much cleavage or wear too sexy shoes, this should be okay
a suit, maybe a pencil skirt with a coat. A mac (the mackage coat – the full form) would be dressed down but stylish. When I think of business I think of the above mentioned items. And no I don’t think you should wear a floral printed dress to this ”large firm”. These are a few of my ideas. Look great!
Look at what your other female coworkers are wearing.
I work in a biz casual office and here are something that are ok:
Clothes:
Long or knee legnth skirts/Dresses (remember the finger rule from school?)
Slacks/ khakis/docker type pants
Dress Capris
Sweaters/ sweater sets
Knit tops (remember the three B’s- no boobs/backs/butts showing)
see through tops as long as their is a tank top worn beneath.
tank tops worn with over shirtsSuits
Blouses/ button down’s
Shoes:
heels that you’ll be comfortable wearing all day long
opentoe sandals/ wedges- no flip flops
doc martens or similar style with slacks
Always remember that bras/underware shouldn’t be visible. If you have a cute sundress, weat a little sweater over it. Never wear jeans (even a jean skirt) unless you get approval. Your company probably has a dress code in their handbook. You can always ask your boss.
