Are Women Purposely Wanting to be a Cheap Sex Toy (Music Videos)?

Ok, I know I am going to go in front of the firing squad, but hear me out. It seems that we hear all these women wanting, rights, and not being called cheap. They want their men to respect them and love them. And then we go to music videos. How are men to respect women, when these women ( who dance and falunt their stuff in front of the camera) don’t respect themselves. It’s like they want to be used. Now, I am not letting the men off the hook, but do these women understand that they are following the blue-print of women sterotypes. I am sorry, but I am sick of women saying, “I want to be taken seriously,” but later dress in a tubetop and a mini skirt. The real sad thing is, most men take advantage of this. What do you think? Do you think these types of women are ruining the repetation for other women?
Insider, I am not saying that what they do on TV is what they do in real life. Heck no! We all need to make money to survive. What I am getting at is the aspect of deceny. I know there is always going to be scenes that are not approapriate for the youth, but there are some down right wrong videos. The best example I have is this. What “Mean Girls,” and watch the part when they go to the one of the girls homes, and see their friend’s 8 year old sister dancing in half made clouths. This is what girls watch. This is what guys watch. If there is nothing wrong with it, then why is wearing nighclouths in public accpetable. The point I am getting is why do women, who know that their clouths sexually attrack men, purposely wear them. What is more important money or respect.

what makes you think that just because I play a prostitute on TV that I am one in real life? women work in music videos for the same reason that actors sign up to be in the background of shows – cause it’s work and it’s money and you never know what might lead to a break.

I’m not disagreeing with your position – the cheapening of women that happens with modern advertising and entertainment gives men a very warped idea of reality. but to say that the women who are on those vids is ruining the reputation of all women is not a valid arguement. you should rather be asking why do people sign off on videos that use female images like that? and if you’re really upset, the only thing you can do as an individual is not patronize the service/music/channel/item being advertised in such a manner.

I hear you. The situation is actually pretty simple.

Most of the video vixen types are young and gorgeous. Because of that, they haven’t yet experienced the issues that the old and ugly have (sorry, lol). They’re used to being treated well.

Not only that, but if you are young and gorgeous, it’s just innate behavior to want to be admired. We can’t help it. I think it’s not only instinct, it’s learned behavior as well.

Unfortunately, it’s not until we get older that we also get wiser, and we realize that that kind of behavior is detrimental.

And on the third hand – why the heck can’t we look hot and be respected? I hate to quote Melanie Griffith – it hurts me – but she said in Working Girl “I have a head for business and a bod for sin. Is there anything wrong with that?”

I guess to sum it up, the issue is youth.

Very good question, I would take it a step further. The role models portrayed in most videos (e.g. gangster BBQing in the back yard with a gun stuck at the back of his belt etc) are not really anything to aspire to either. I think it is a problem with the new musical trend (worldwide) that actually lacks substance. There used to be music genres/times when music had a message and tried to change the world for the better, now it is just bling bling, bi_ches, their “junk in their trunk”, pimping and jacked up cars. I could try to come up with some sociological theories about the globalization, apolitisization of youth etc.
But I’d like to comment on Insider Mole’s answer. If you happen to go to a wedding and see 6 year old girls dancing and singing like women do in those videos and think that this is what they perceive as the norm for teenage/adult women, probably you would think this may be concerning too.

“What is more important money or respect?” In a sense to these young girls, both. Money is what they think will get them respect. What they don’t realize, is that just because they have money, they are still video whores. Which doesn’t stand for much on a resume. These girls need to go to college, get an education, find out what real respect is in this world.

..every woman are different(we are all special, this is what i mean)some just want to do that because they dont care, some because of money and really needs it, some just DONT do that ON MUSIC VIDEOS to be clean but DOING IT IN REAL LIFE..

id rather see another woman doing those kind of music videos because they need to earn for their family than seing a decent woman, with decent manner and decent clothes on tv but who is a wh*re in real life.
