I think i need a picture, or at least tell me what the pattern is, striped, polka dotted?
A picture of the skirt would be nice; but since the skirt has both black and white in it, a black or a white top should go nicely with it.
UPDATE: Thank for the pic. Cute skirt, love the lace too. A solid black or white with lace would look really cute. But a solid bright color MIGHT work.
Try This – See what your mom thinks about this. Along with your receipt for the purchase of skirt, take the skirt to the mall to one of your favorite stores, and ask the sales clerk or the manager if you could try on “your” skirt that you already purchased with some of their tops. Show them the receipt. And just see what looks best with the skirt. Even try a color or two and see if it works. But if a color does not work, stick with solid black or white.

i will need a picture because it really depends on the pattern and style of the skirt to know what kind of top to go with but since you said it is black and white try to go with something black or white it will go th best i think

Your top should be a solid color with not too much going on, because it sounds like the skirt is pretty busy and you don’t want to take attention away from it. I’d say a simple tank or tee in a cheerful color for the whole tropical theme thing.
for tropical, i’d say something bright – like a yellow or red or hot pink or green halter – if your school allows halters.
umm well it would have to be a plain black or white t-shirt i think black would be better

I am 23 and my 16 year old and 11 year old nieces completely agreed with me. (The 16 year old is on the dance line at school and is pretty popular. She dresses really cute!) I am a substitute teacher and almost all of the girls in the 8th grade group agree too!
