How does this sound instead of a jacket or long cardigan ?

I’m thinking getting a Japanese happi coat like this *probably not the same color/print* http://www.cherryblossomgardens.com/product.php?id=16 (and hemming it just a good few inches) and wearing it over my dresses, pencil skirts, and my skinny jeans but cinching it with this belt I bought at Anthropologie

Well, the was in the 80’s, but if it fits your personal style you can probably pull it off.

With skinny jeans this would look good, however the skirts and dresses, its questionable. It depends on the print of dress and if we’re talking business-type black pencil skirts, I don’t think the happi coat would be appropriate. It’s such an ethnic piece that I personally would wear it with the intention of displaying IT and not what’s underneath.
