How to wash pleated prairie skirt?

I have a long full pleated type spanish fiesta type skirt and want to wash it, I have heard you use rubber bands and put on a delicate type cycle to keep the pleats in tact,any other suggestions?
I wash mine by hand, hang up to drip dry and no problem.

Is the shirt acually pleated, or is it “crinkled”? The crinkled ones are easy. Tie it into a knot and wash it. When it’s done, untie the knot and hang to dry .
