Is my friend copying me? If so, what should I do?

I don’t know if I’m paranoid or what, but I swear to God, ever since my friend turned 18, she’s been mimicking me/ trying to show me up. She suddenly likes boys who wanted to date me, and she all of the sudden has taken this huge interest in belly dancing, and I swear it’s because -I- belly dance. Also, she has JUST started wearing makeup and acts like she’s an expert at putting makeup on, even though I’ve been wearing makeup since I was like 12. Also, she picked up this thing from me (I don’t really do it anymore) where she growls at people like a friggin’ dog. Plus, I absolutely LOVE animal print and I told her that I have a pair of cat ears. Well, now I find out she’s made a pair of leopard skin cat ears and I’m like “What the hell?” It seems, too, that she wants to be more effeminate now. But, see, I’m the one who always wears dresses and skirts and she’s always been a tomboy! I swear to God she’s copying me and wants to like replace me or be cooler than me or something. It’s really starting to piss me off, because I’ve always liked being my own unique person and now she’s acting like me. And she wants to dress skimpy now because I dress skimpy!

I’ve heard the whole deal about how it should be flattering if someone acts like you, but I don’t get that. I don’t want to be a trend setter, I don’t want people to try and be me. I don’t think it’s flattering that she tries to do everything I do and then gets all condescending to me about stupid crap! So, what should I do?

tell her do get her own style and life and for her to leave u alone.

dont hang out with her to see what she does when she doesnt see what u do and she cant copy everything. after she cant copy u and shes hopeless pass her in the street or something so she can see what she isnt and never will be no matter how hard she tries

You should tell her that you think that maybe she acts a lot like you, and that it’s good to be your own person. If she denies you saying that you think she copies you give her the examples you gave in the post. Most importantly try to be CALM. No one likes to be told they are a copycat and feel like they are being attacked. If all else fails stop hanging out with her. Her style will either sink or swim without you.
