Shopping for bridal gowns? Lucky you! Fresh, stunning styles abound. Here’s some insider information to help you become familiar with the latest bridal fashions. Select your style and shop away!

Glam-o-Rama

Many glamorous brides are choosing dresses from the Reverie Collection. Reverie offers a unique, non-traditional approach to dressing the bride. The line was designed with the inspiration to create beautiful, current, ready-to-wear inspired dresses and gowns in appropriate bridal colors.

This line was designed for the bride who is confident in her own unique sense of style, and wants her wedding attire to reflect her individual fashion point of view. She is as much the bride who wants the perfect dress wear to the justice of the peace, or the bride whose wedding takes place on a yacht in Greece, as the bride who has a grand wedding but wants to show her individuality.

The unique sophistication of Reverie’s ready-to-wear inspired line appeals to the confident, non-traditional bride. Unlike “Princess Bride” style wedding attire, these gowns are modern and sleek. Fashionistas will love the Cairo dress, a short baby doll dress with beaded straps and ruffle hem. Modern art aficionados will appreciate the strikingly-unique Seville, a strapless, light silk shantung gown with delicate embroidery along the slight drop waist.

The Romantic

Romantic brides, three words: the Platinum Collection.

The Platinum collection is the embodiment of luxury, featuring sumptuous natural fabrics and elaborate hand finished details. For brides who prefer a more dramatic gown, this couture collection reflects the designer’s signature style of glamour, opulence and romantic fantasy.

The Platinum collection offers gowns that are sure to fulfill every bride’s dream of her most important “Red Carpet “moment.

The embodiment of feminine grace, keep an eye out for a beautiful Platinum Collection wedding gown featuring a textured organza and tulle strapless ball gown with a classic Art Deco inspired crystal belt and a full skirt draped with an organza swag.

If you are looking for a dreamy, princess dress, you will swoon over Platinum style PL272, a silk double faced satin strapless ball gown with elaborate beading, silk satin belt, hidden pockets, huge front skirt appliqué and step down train. Frilly and sumptuous!

Also sure to please romantic wives-to-be, Jewel gowns boast effortless youthful elegance, classic silhouettes paired with modern trendy embellishment and traditional laces, creating a sense of heightened romanticism. Style JL211 is pure sensuality: a satin halter-to-strapless convertible fit-to-flare gown with jeweled neckline and dropped waist that flows into a full box pleated skirt. For youthful elegance, try style JL201, a chiffon empire sweetheart slim gown with diagonal bust and bodice pleats that blend softly into a cascading skirt.

Classic Style

Legendary for delivering the discerning bride, timeless elegance and classic beauty, the Priscilla of Boston collection offers the classic bride romantic silhouettes, exquisite lace, and intricate jewelry like beading. The Priscilla bride identifies with the rich heritage the brand name invokes. She is confident in her own sense of true timeless style.

Crave classic with a sophisticated glow? Priscilla of Boston style YLE4314 is an elegant striped silk organza strapless gown with sweetheart neckline and waist trimmed with silk satin ribbon. If your look is timeless, elegant and graceful, seek out style 4307, a re-embroidered lace strapless fitted gown with scallop finished neckline and skirt hem, satin waistband and scattered crystals.

Modern Maven

These brides command modern, of the moment trends. What’s hot now? Updated classics.

Top option: The Vineyard Collection, which addresses a modern bride who respects the tradition of a formal wedding, but seeks updated styling that reflects current fashion trends.

This collection offers fine fabrics and embellishments in a variety of choices that address brides’ changing needs from short dresses for garden weddings or to the “second dress”, to destination looks, to ball gowns. The collection maintains a simplicity that is both modern and chic.

Minimalist fans: check out Harper, a satin fit-to-flare strapless gown with draped and cinched bodice and peplum skirt. So au courant! Seeking a simple-chic vive? Meet Jules, a silk and cotton faille short-sleeve fit-to-flare shirt dress with sash.

Bohemian Chic

“Romanticism, whose origins are in the sweet dreams of brides.” – Melissa Sweet

These free-spirited brides are all about gowns that are contemporary, feminine and flirtatious, with a healthy dose of whimsical style.

The Melissa Sweet collection offers a timeless balance of modernism and femininity. The hallmark of the Melissa line is her beautiful silhouettes. Known for enveloping the body with gracefulness and fluidity, all her gowns exude an heirloom quality that is unique. The Melissa Sweet bride is fashion forward and yet embraces delicacy in gossamer like fabrics, unique vintage quality embellishment… a look that is “fairy tale couture”.

Sweet’s Bo, a lace-veiled-by-net sleeveless A-line gown with illusion net straps and floral embroidery. Olan is an uber-gorgeous French lace strapless A-line gown embellished with glass beads, sequins, and dimensional flowers. You’ll definitely want to check out Sweet’s entire line.

There you have it. Did you find the perfect one yet? With these suggestions, there’s no way you won’t find it. Enjoy this magical time!

Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered
The Top 10 Spring Fashions…
What to Celebrate & Avoid

As spring fashions flood into the stores, it gives us hope that warmer weather is on its way. While those of us in the colder climates are still a little way off from actually wearing the styles, it is fun to look and dream, and even while the snow is on the ground, shopping is in full swing. What’s great and what isn’t? Let’s find out:

Bewitched

Color: The colors of the season promise to be more inviting than what we saw last year. Instead of a sea of black, gray and yellow (although they are still lurking), they are promising that black is out (well, as out as it will ever be – which means it is still around but not featured as strongly as some seasons), and lighter brighter colors are in. Turquoise and teal are big (yay!) as is coral. Neutral tones (beige, champagne and cream) are everywhere. When it comes to neutrals you must be absolutely sure you find the one that works best for you, or you will completely disappear or look slightly ill. Think pastels are passé? Wishful thinking! They are just calling them “ice cream” shades instead of pastels. Whatever you call them, be careful. They do not look good on everyone. Above all, beware of khaki!

Patterns: What would spring be without floral patterns? I find that people either love them or hate them and this year they will be hard to avoid. You can choose soft, romantic florals or big, bold and bright flowers. If floral are not your cup of tea, then animal prints is the other perennial favorite (leopard and zebra reign — often in unnatural colors). Want to be on the cutting edge? Try this season’s “digital” print. Designers are now using their computers to digitally alter and add energy to their designs which gives them a futuristic feel. When it comes to prints and patterns, there is something for everyone – as it should be!

Ruffles: Ruffles are still hot and are on everything. Placement is what is key to keep them fresh and, yes, even edgy. Of course you will find them along the neckline and hem but a new addition is on your shoulders. Positioned properly and assuming they are a stiff ruffle, they add strength and structure to a sloped or narrow shoulder. Those of you with strong, square shoulders will probably want to avoid this look – for the rest of us, they are fabulous. And, adventurous fashionistas can wear them on their shoes…gorgeous!

Dresses. All hail the dress! I remember, not too long ago; when there was a 15-year drought during which you could not find a day dress to save your life, so please let the designers know that this trend is a keeper! What’s not to like about a dress? They take so much less work than trying to create a winning skirt and top combination, and you can toss one on with a great pair of shoes and your favorite jewelry and you’re done. Plus there are so many different styles, fabrics and colors out there that you would be hard pressed not to find at least one that works for you.

Draping and Ruching. Smooth, lightweight fabrics that are so prevalent in the warmer weather are notorious for drawing attention to every lump and bump. Yay – draping and ruching to the rescue! Strategically placed drapes of fabric and ruching (gathers of fabric) can magically camouflage those areas and make this a non-issue. This trend is a girl’s best friend!

Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize! Accessories have always been a wardrobe’s secret weapon and this season they are hotter than ever! Everything is big, bright, and there’s lots of it. Wear necklaces, bangle bracelets, earrings, scarves, and belts. Whether your overall theme is warrior princess, tribal, gothic theme, or simply bold and chunky (suited to the scale of your features, of course) the important part is that it makes a huge statement and expresses your personality.

Bothered

Socks with Sandals: Yes, believe it or not, this is a new trend. A bad one, that’s for sure (it’s on my top ten of fashion don’ts!) or else someone is playing a mean trick on us. Maybe it’s all just a bad dream…

Ripped and Torn Jeans: They call it cutting edge but unless you’re under 25 (and even then it’s questionable) save it for around the house. I will never understand the appeal in looking so sloppy?

Tapered Pants: Do we have to bring back everything from the 80’s? Want to make your hips (and feet) look gigantic? Wear pleated tapered pants. Done! Better yet, how about wearing red pleated tapered pants. Picture that…on second thought… don’t!

Bewildered

Underwear as Outwear: Unless you really know how to make this trend look elegant, skip it. It can very easily (and most often) look trashy.

Shoes: This is a mixed bag which is why it is showing up in the bewildered category. While there is every imaginable style to choose from (that’s good!), there are a few looks that are not my favorite. Those cage heels or gladiators heels as some call them just won’t go away. While they are still as unflattering as ever when worn with a dress, the good news is that they are making many of them in lighter neutrals so you can find one to match your skin tone. This helps to keep the shoe from making your legs look stubby and in some cases even elongates your legs (but don’t push it!!). They are great fun with pants – where you just get a hint of sexy shoes peeking out.

That said, I do love that light neutral ankle boots are in for the spring. I love boots and would wear them all year round if it didn’t get too hot (but it does). While I wouldn’t wear them with a skirt they will allow me to wear boots with pants during the transitional months. Yay!

High heeled clogs are in. They aren’t awful but again, not my favorite – they are just so clunky. It is also obvious that someone definitely has a desire to make women’s legs and ankles look thick and chunky. This is evidenced by the current trend of flat sandals with thick (or multiple) straps around your ankles. Dangerous! Unless you are absolutely sure you look good in them (i.e., you have long, thin legs and ankles), run right by this trend.

I have an idea…how about if someone wears all the bothered and bewildered styles together – picture that! Ripped (tapered) jeans worn with a sheer top so you can see your bra and socks with gladiator sandals. This would give anyone nightmares!

This season’s (bewitching) trends have potential. Remember to shop between now and the very beginning of June. After that (even if it hasn’t really gotten warm where you live) everything goes on sale and Fall inventory starts to trickle in. I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to a delicious spring and summer!

Take a sign from nature. The leaves are all changing colors, the weather is changing, and it’s time for pumpkins and turkeys and some really great fashions. You can change colors too as it’s time for a change of fashion. Phase out some of your summer shorts and tank tops for some great fall fashions.

Some of the best colors for fall are caramel colored browns, taupe, teal, copper, and other fall inspired colors. Jeans are always good no matter what the season, but you can pair them with pretty blouses in fall colors, and high heels. Also, letting go of the shorter shorts for some longer, ankle length shorts is a great idea. Not only will this give you a different look it will also help to keep you a little warmer.

As the weather cools off, and the evening brings a chill in the air, you can wear some really pretty fall colored cardigans or sweaters. Some prints that are toned down compared to the summer fashions are great for fall. Stripes, or small prints, even animal prints are all loved fashions of Fall. Purple is another great color for fall even if you are not a Red Hat Society member.

If the weather is cold where you live during Fall, jackets that are waist-length are great. These look really great with fall dresses and skirts as well as pants and jeans. One of the most amazing Fall jackets is the tie-front waist length jacket. This looks amazing with tight black stretch pants and boots. An oversized shirt is a great thing to add to this outfit. Pair it with some great accessories and a medium sized leather handbag and you’ve got a great fashion.

Hats are in for women during the fall. One of the most popular and beautiful hats is the beret. A simple black or brown one is a great idea, and you can wear it with pretty much anything. Try it with a longer straight skirt and a collared shirt and cardigan. This is a beautiful trendy look.

Accessories for fall are a must have. Layered necklaces and bracelets are hot, and you can compliment your more neutral toned outfit with colorful ones. Try orange, brown, or green ones. Dangling earrings, chunky bangle bracelets, and thick, bold jewelry is a hot fall fashion, and really gives your outfits the finishing touches they need.

Boots are great for fall, whether they’re heeled or not. You can wear them with longer skirts, jeans, and even skinny black pants. These look fabulous with collared shirts, t-shirts, or sweaters. They are especially great when you pair them with the perfect fall jacket that will not only keep you warm but dress you up too.

Fall is a great reason to go shopping for some fresh new looks. If you just want to add some great pieces in to compliment your existing wardrobe, experiment with some different colors, or you’ve had it and are replacing the whole thing, use these tips to help you pick out the right fall fashions.

MILAN, Italy – Miuccia Prada is often a step ahead of the pack, so it was no wonder that her latest collection had little to do with what has been going on the Milan runway: easy dressing in light and airy styles.

Her collection shown Tuesday was indeed light — she’s into flesh-baring these days — but certainly not easy to wear — or walk in. Several models tottered and fell on the fish-decorated runway, as they slipped out of their ultrahigh-heeled platform sandals strapped at the ankle. Many finished their catwalk shoes in hand.

The latest Prada collection is divided into categories from bra tops to dresses in python and fish prints, to variations of the old-fashioned night gown, to gilded evening wear. To underline the potpourri feel, all the models walked up and down the runway at the same time, creating the effect of a fashion kaleidoscope.
Prada topped a long list of shows on the second day of the Milan fashion week that runs through Friday, including Jil Sander, Bottega Veneta, and Moschino.

The only “easy” item in the new Prada collection is the latest Prada bag — a simple leather clutch.
The bra top, an item that could never have shown up at Prada a decade ago, is worn with an off-the-shoulder jacket and below-the-knee skirt with lingerie velvet detailing, all in shimmering silk. The favorite style for the silk reptile and seashore prints is an overly loose sheath. The nightie dresses come in various fabrics and are strictly off-white, like clothes stashed away in a trunk.
A series of wooly tops worn over a flared miniskirt brings the collection back to our days, only to lose it to the future in cosmic gilded gowns.

Raf Simons for Jil Sander stripped minimalist of its stiffness and livened up the staid Jil Sander label with soft contours — and fringes.

The Belgian-born designer who took over at Jil Sander in 2005 managed to create floating, airy styles while maintaining the strict contours and conservative shades of minimalist fashion.
Some examples: the back of a classic jacket is elegantly draped or cut out. Sleeves are slit open to turn into free-flowing panels, and vertical slashes on coats result in decorative loop panels.
The biggest news is that Simons managed to take the frill out of fringe and uplift the silky strand to minimalist fashion heights. Each strand was embroidered separately onto a dress, coat or even a hand bag. The yesteryear lampshade effect worked especially well for inserts in dresses and jackets, lending extra softness.

Whatever the season or the mood, Thomas Meier, the German designer at Bottega Veneta offers chic styles with a modern touch.

Picking up on next summer’s easy-to-wear fashion, his collection includes ultra-soft leather wear, jersey skirts and tops, striped linen pantsuits, and delicately patterned silk shirt dresses. Sure to be a summer hit is the wide basket skirt worn with a simple sleeveless blouse reminiscent of the look favored by Audrey Hepburn in the classic film ‘Roman Holiday.’

Taking its cue from the easygoing elegance offered by Italian designers this round, Moschino, known for its fashion sense of humor, served up an over-the-top collection for next summer.
With an ironic fashion wand, Moschino turns roses into skirts and cropped jackets, embroiders a trench coat with ruffles, and decorates a simple stole with sweet bows.

On the serious side, Moschino offers a series of perfectly styled couture outfits, highlighted by giant bags.
